Reduce video size for email — under 25 MB
Gmail and Outlook cap attachments around 20–25 MB. With a bitrate target you can hit that exactly: size ≈ bitrate × duration. havenConverter lets you set a custom bitrate and trims the clip too. Nothing is uploaded: the file is read from your disk, processed in the browser tab and saved back to your device.
Do the maths
A 25 MB budget over a 60-second clip is about 3.3 Mbps total. Leave 10 % for audio and container overhead: set video to roughly 2.8 Mbps at 720p. For 2 minutes, halve it (480p helps).
Steps
- Drop the video in and trim to the part that matters (Edits → Trim).
- Resolution 720p or 480p, Codec H.264, Container MP4.
- Quality: Custom bitrate → enter the number from the maths above.
- Export and check the size in the result panel.
Frequently asked questions
- Why not just send a link?
- You can — but the point of a small attachment is that it opens anywhere without a login, and the file never touched a third-party server.
