Is havenConverter really free?
Yes. Every tool is unlimited and completely free — no sign-up, no payment, no watermark on your output.
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. All decoding, editing and encoding happens in your browser; your files never leave your device.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the studio and start — no install, no registration, no login.
Which formats are supported?
Input: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and most containers with H.264, HEVC, VP9 or AV1 video (subject to your browser’s decoders). Output: MP4 (H.264/HEVC), WebM (VP9/AV1), MOV, MKV, AVI, plus M4A/MP3/WAV audio extraction.
How large a file can I process?
There is no fixed limit. Multi-gigabyte 4K files are the normal case; output streams to disk so memory stays flat.
Why is one job fast and another slow?
Jobs the browser can do natively (Engine A: WebCodecs + WebGPU) use your hardware. Jobs that need ffmpeg.wasm (Engine B: AVI, concat of mismatched clips, overlays) run on the CPU and are slower. The badge on each job tells you which path ran.
Which browsers work?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all pass the built-in self-test. Chromium browsers usually have the most hardware codecs.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after the first visit. The studio and its engines are cached; you can also install it as an app.
Site analytics
Haven Analytics counts anonymous page views and which tool was used, cookielessly, on our own domain. Video contents and file names are never sent. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are honoured.
