Drop a 4K clip and havenConverter downscales it to clean 1080p. On capable browsers it uses your device’s hardware video engine through WebCodecs and a WebGPU downscale, so the flagship 4K→HD path is fast and frame-accurate.
Everything happens in this browser tab on your own device — your video is never uploaded to a server, so even multi-gigabyte files stay private. You pick the output codec (H.264 by default), bitrate or quality, and container — then the result streams straight to a file you choose.
How to
- Open the studio. Open havenConverter and drop your 4K video in, or click to choose a file.
- Pick 1080p. Set the resolution to 1080p (Full HD), keep H.264 / MP4 for maximum compatibility.
- Choose quality. Pick a quality preset or a custom bitrate, and preview the framing live.
- Export. Click Export and choose where to save the smaller 1080p file.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my video uploaded anywhere?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your machine — nothing is sent to a server.
- Is it hardware-accelerated?
- On browsers with WebCodecs + WebGPU and a hardware video codec, decode and the downscale run on the GPU/media engine. The app shows an honest badge per job; where the platform can’t confirm hardware, it says so.
- Which formats can I export?
- MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM on the fast path. AVI is also supported via a CPU fallback (slower).
